Personal mobile phones
We understand that personal devices are a part of children's lives and we allow children to have their mobile phones on their person during the sessions. We have a set of boundaries that we ask children to adhere to when using their personal devices at Bitsi:
- Phones must not be used to take or share a photo of another child or staff member.
- Phones must not be used while the instructor is teaching.
Bitsi does not take any responsibility for loss, theft or damage of any personal devices.
Visitors' use of mobile phones
In the interest of safety and privacy, we ask that parents and carers do not take or share any photos of staff, other children or other family members. If they would like a photo of their child, they can take a photo of their child only, unless the other child's parent is present and consents for their child's photo to be taken.
Logins
Children are provided with a login for Scratch and Book Creator and other apps as appropriate. These logins are shared with parents/carers. Please note that these accounts are not supervised outwith the session times and parents/carers are responsible for supervising their child on any programmes/platforms outwith the session times.
Use of laptops and tablet computers
Children have access to a range of devices at Bitsi. Whilst every effort has been made to set these up in a child-friendly way, we have an additional set of boundaries that we ask children to adhere to:
- Do not use a search engine on a device without permission from the instructor.
- Do not attempt to download any apps or make any in-app purchases.
- Do not use the camera on a device without permission from the instructor.
- Do not use inappropriate language.
- Handle all devices with care and immediately let the instructor know if a device is damaged.
Use of digital equipment
Children have access to a range of digital equipment at Bitsi. Children are asked to:
- Ensure all pieces of the equipment are present and collected at the end of a session.
- Handle all devices with care and immediately let the instructor know if a device is damaged.
- Not remove or insert any batteries or cables from a device.
Damage and theft of equipment
At Bitsi, we provide a range of educational technology tools to enhance learning. To ensure that everyone has access to high-quality equipment, we ask all participants and their guardians to agree to the following terms:
- Responsibility for equipment: All participants are expected to handle Bitsi's equipment with care and respect. Any wilful damage or misuse of equipment may result in the participant being responsible for repair or replacement costs.
- Accidental damage: In the event of accidental damage, we ask that the incident is reported to a member of staff immediately.
- Theft or loss: Participants are required to take reasonable care of Bitsi's equipment. If equipment is lost or stolen while under a participant's care, Bitsi reserves the right to request compensation for the replacement of the item(s).
- Personal belongings: Bitsi is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of participants' personal belongings during any club activities. We recommend participants leave valuable items at home.
By participating in Bitsi activities, you acknowledge and agree to these terms regarding the use and care of our equipment.
